TMEX reports the 2nd Quarter of 2024 EWR Market statistics (01.04-30.06.2024)

2nd Quarter of 2024 highlights on the agricultural commodity trades in Electronic Warehouse Receipts (EWR) Market in Turkish Mercantile Exchange (TMEX) are as follows:

  • As of the beginning of 2024, the trading value reached to TRY 18,23 billion, with a trading volume of 2,2 million tons and 30 thousand transactions. 
  • The number of investors engaging in trading platform has reached 8.853.
  • The total number of registered investors on the trading platform has reached 222 thousand.
  • There are currently 201 actively licensed warehouses providing services in 278 branches, 47 cities, and 141 districts.
  • The licensed warehouse capacity has achieved a record of 10,6 million tons.
  • In the 2nd quarter of 2024; the trading value, trading volume, and number of transactions were recorded at TRY 10,3 billion, 1,2 million tons and 15 thousand respectively.

 

In the 2nd Quarter of 2024, information regarding the leading products in terms of daily average traded volume is provided below for the main traded agricultural commodities:

  • Corn: 13.660 tons
  • Milling Wheat: 3.988 tons
  • Durum Wheat: 2.347 tons
  • Barley: 1.302 tons
  • Sunflower Seed: 144 tons
  • Paddy: 168 tons

 

The seasonal trading value and volume for the traded products are provided comparatively with the same period in 2023:

  • Corn’s trading value increased by 36% to 5,8 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 0,2% to 778.645 tons.
  • Milling Wheat’s trading value decreased by 60% to 2,2 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 79% to 227.322 tons.
  • Durum Wheat’s trading value increased by 19% to 1,5 billion TRY; trading volume decreased by 20% to 133.769 tons.
  • Barley’s trading value increased by 21% to 535,4 million TRY; trading volume decreased by 10% to 71.586 tons.
  • Sunflower Seed’s trading value increased by 136% to 65,2 million TRY; trading volume increased by 49% to 3.733 tons.
  • Paddy’s trading value increased by 2% to 36 million TRY; trading volume decreased by 30% to 1.174 tons.

 

The changes in Agricultural Commodity Indices for the 2nd Quarter of 2024, based on month-end closing values, are provided as follows:

  • Wheat Index value decreased by 2,03% to 4.155,28.
  • Milling Wheat Index value decreased by 6,89% to 4.080,89.
  • Durum Wheat Index value decreased by 3,90% to 4.227,55.
  • Corn Index value increased by 8,97% to 4.226,45.
  • Barley Index value decreased by 8,81% to 3.698,91.
  • Grain Index value increased by 2,15% to 4.164,42.
